Bathroom Trends You’ll Love in 2025 & 2026: Warm, Textured, and Wellness-Focused

Time to Read:

4–6 minutes

Here’s a deep-dive into the bathroom trends that have shaped 2025 thus far and what’s beginning to emerge for 2026. Whether you’re planning a full renovation, a refresh, or just want to stay ahead of the curve, these are the styles, materials, and design ideas designers are embracing … and leaving behind.

Bathroom Trends for 2025

1. Nature, Texture & Warmth

  • Natural materials are everywhere: marble, terrazzo, wood (or wood-look porcelain), stone, and organic elements are being used to bring calm, tactile richness into bathrooms.¹
  • Tones are shifting away from cold, stark greys toward earthy hues: sage, olive, terracotta, warm browns, clay, and other nature-inspired colors.²
  • Texture is key: textured tiles (3D tiles, raised surfaces, honed finishes rather than glossy), scalloped or curved forms, surface variation that appeals to touch.³

2. Bold Tiles & Statement Patterns

  • Large-format tiles to reduce grout lines and create clean, seamless surfaces.⁴
  • Graphic, patterned, and artistic tiles — chevron, herringbone, mosaic murals, bar (“Kit Kat”) tiles, etc. — often used for accent walls, shower surrounds, tub fronts.³
  • Full-height tile walls are becoming more common, removing visual breaks and creating a unified flow.⁵

3. Spa-Inspired & Wellness-Focused Features

  • Steam showers, freestanding soaking tubs, wet rooms where shower/tub areas are more open or integrated.⁶
  • Heated floors and towel racks; lighting that can dim or be layered to set mood.⁷
  • Biophilic design: integrating plants, natural light, wood, stone, and water elements to evoke calm and connection to nature.³

4. Smart & Efficient Design

  • Smart mirrors (LED, anti-fog, sometimes voice control), touchless faucets, digital showers with presets.⁷
  • Better use of storage: floating vanities, recessed shelves/shower niches, concealing appliances and functional equipment to reduce clutter.²
  • Eco-friendly fixtures: low-flow faucets, water-efficient toilets, sustainable materials (recycled, renewable woods, etc.).⁸

5. Softer Forms, More Personality

  • Movement away from strictly angular, boxy shapes. Rounded vanities, arched or curved mirrors, softer profiles in tubs and fixtures.³
  • Statement lighting is becoming more important: pendants, wall sconces, layered lighting rather than one overhead fixture.³

6. Colour & Material Trends

  • Warm stones and finishes: honed marble, earthy stone, surfaces that feel natural rather than ultra polished.⁹
  • Accent colours are returning: greens (especially softer or muted greens like pistachio), clay tones, richer jewel tones in fixtures or accessories.¹⁰
  • Metallic accents and mixed finishes (matte black, aged brass, warm metals) paired with natural textures.⁹

Emerging Trends for 2026

1. Colour “Moods” & Palette Sophistication

  • Pistachio green is being touted as a major colour for bathrooms in 2026. Softer, nature-adjacent greens are expected to replace or soften bold blues or heavy jewel tones.¹⁰
  • More nuanced color play: merging earthy neutrals with small hits of vibrancy, more layered tones rather than flat colour blocks.

2. Heritage & Patterned Wallpaper

  • Heritage-style wallpapers—traditional motifs, florals, damasks—are making a comeback. Used strategically (with good ventilation, water-resistant materials, etc.), these add personality, nostalgia, and warmth.¹¹

3. Minimalism with Curves + Softness

  • The minimalism trend continues, but evolves: rather than rigid lines and ultra-slick surfaces, the next wave will favor minimal design with organic curves, softness, and more human scale.

4. Space Optimization, Especially in Urban Homes

  • As living spaces shrink or become more constrained, features like floating vanities, wall-hung toilets, multifunctional vanities, consolidated storage become essential.¹²
  • Compact layouts will likely use wet-rooms and walk-in showers more often to save space and make cleaning easier.

5. Hybrid Luxury & Practicality

  • Expect more of that “hotel bathroom” feeling at home: luxurious tile work, full height mirrors, hidden storage, high-end fixtures—but balanced with ease of maintenance, durability, and environmental consciousness.

6. Materials & Finish Refinement

  • Softer stones, honed finishes, warm woods or wood effects that are more authentic in feel and less “manufactured” looking.
  • More attention to finish details: hardware, delicate edges, slim profiles, and combining textures in thoughtful ways.

What’s Fading Out / What to Be More Cautious Of

  • All-white bathrooms, or spaces that rely solely on stark white and cold tones, are losing popularity. People want more warmth, variation, and character.¹³
  • Excessive ornamentation that’s hard to maintain, or finishes and fixtures that date quickly. Trends are shifting toward timelessness—natural materials, classic tile shapes and patterns, mixed finishes.
  • Very glossy, overly polished surfaces without texture—these risk feeling cold or sterile.

Tips for Designing with Longevity

Mind the balance of form & function
Luxurious touches are great, but they have to hold up to daily use and cleaning. Fixtures & surfaces should balance beauty with practicality.

Start with neutrals + add accent details
You can incorporate a bold tile, coloured vanity, or fancy lighting without committing the whole room.

Choose quality materials, especially wet-area surfaces
Tiles, stones, finishes that resist moisture, are easy to clean, will age well.

Invest in good lighting
Layered – ambient, task, accent — plus dimmable options to change mood and function.

Keep storage smart but subtle
Clutter ages any space. Hidden storage, recessed niches, efficient cabinetry help keep the space serene.
