Who We Are

Rockbridge Flooring & More (formerly Rockbridge Flooring Professionals) is an installer/contractor-owned small business in Lexington, Virginia.

James W. Higgins, owner of Rockbridge Flooring Professionals, LLC
RFP Owner and President, James Higgins

James W. Higgins is a 20+ -year veteran of the construction industry with an exacting knowledge of flooring, i.e. types, installation methods, best practices, and warranty specifications. He started Rockbridge Flooring Professionals, LLC in January 2003 as a flooring installation company and grew it to include custom showers.

After a number of years, James’s genuine concern for a job completed well and “to warranty specs” gave him name recognition in the community. Often, he was called to fix others’ mistakes. Soon would-be clients sought him for not only installations, but to purchase products on their behalf. *cue the lightbulb moment*

Rockbridge Flooring Professionals evolved to be a flooring retailer with a showroom in mid-2018. Since then RFP has grown beyond custom bathroom remodels and flooring to include cabinetry and all its accoutrements, faucets, bathtubs … and we’re just getting started.

Meet the Team at RFP

James and Casey

Casey Higgins, Vice President

Casey is James’s other half (not necessarily better), and she keeps all things administrative in order. She is also charged with the company’s marketing and public relations efforts (fun fact: she is a freelance writer with her own company, too). Together Casey and James have three children. Her favorite things include sunshine, coffee, falling asleep while reading a book in the hammock, embarrassing her children, and Don Tequila with whomever will join her.

Tammy Potter, Sales Associate

Tammy and her husband Darron in the 90s, which is now considered vintage.

Tammy is likely the first person to greet you when you visit RFP. She’ll give you the grand tour, explain product differences, and source a product if we do not yet have it on display. Fun fact for us but not for her: Tammy loves horses but is allergic to them. If you love horses (or most any livestock), you’ll hit it off with her right away. Tammy is a mom and “grandmaw,” and claims her husband Darron is “the best hubby.” The whole Potter family rodeos and barrel races (and have big belt buckles to prove it), but Tammy said “anywhere with them makes my heart full.”

Ben Zollman, Installation Crew Leader & Estimator

Ben in his element: on a kayak in a lake.

Ben is the lead installer for RFP and has taken on the responsibility of measuring and estimating potential jobs. If you see him with his earbuds in, leave him alone; he’s concentrating. Ben is the lone bit of testosterone at home. Yep. All girls. And one bathroom. But he’s an amazing dad supporting his little ladies in their athletic endeavors. When he isn’t on a ballfield with one of them, you might find him kayaking or fishing our local waterways, or sharpening his skills for competitive shooting.

Chris Godfrey, Laborer

Chris’s favorite RFP shirt is his pink one.
“Real men wear pink.”

Chris wears many hats for RFP: product delivery, cabinet assembly, flooring installation, technology troubleshooting, and so many other random things. He goes where he’s needed and fills the gaps well. Outside of RFP Chris is a sound technician. Any given Friday or Saturday night he can be found supporting musicians with lights and sound equipment. When he’s not making us or those musicians look good, he’s shredding with his own band.

Ian Reitsma, Laborer

Ian is the coolest thing since sliced bread. If he isn’t given a task, he finds one; a true go-getter. Ian enjoys and excels at baking and woodworking. His cranberry Christmas bread is magnifique! Ian’s attention to detail is incredible. In fact, we’d like to clone him. Hey Ian, do you have a twin we can hire?

Kimberly Northrop, Tile Setter

When she isn’t singing with Marvin and the Little Martians or North by Burke, she’s setting tile or maybe even finishing drywall for us. She has a careful, methodical rhythm to her craft, and we’re certain any client who is fortunate enough to have Kimberly in their home will appreciate her meticulous work.
